We know that for children to develop a love of reading and books, they need to be taught how to read.
Pittsburgh Reads is a project of OpenLiteracy, A+ Schools, Kinselland and educator and early childhood advocate Shavonne Lowry. We began this work with a pilot project in winter 2021 with generous financial support from A+ Schools and the Grable Foundation. With the Covid-19 virus transforming what the day to day lives of young children looked like, we created a series of 30 literacy-focused videos that could be watched On Demand. These videos reached over 200 Pittsburgh families.
Pittsburgh Reads expands on this effort, with a continued focus on providing engaging content focused on early reading skills. You can access all of our content from our YouTube Playlists or our home page. Questions? We’d love to hear from you! You can contact us at hello@openliteracy.com
